NASUWT

‘Putting Teachers First’ is the philosophy and practice that has made the NASUWT the largest teachers’ union in the UK. NASUWT membership spans all sectors from early years to sixth-form and FE colleges.

The NASUWT represents members at all career stages from student to school leader.

Democratic

Serving teachers determines the NASUWT national policy through the Union’s democratic structures.

Influential

The NASUWT is deeply committed to working to influence the education policy of the Westminster and developing governments and employers. The NASUWT is affiliated to the TUC in all parts of the UK, has links with other national and international trade union organisations and  is represented on a wide range of professional, educational and advisory bodies.

Non-Party Political

The NASUWT is not affiliated to any political party.

Campaigning to deliver Improvements

The NASUWT has developed progressive policies on many of the key issues affecting education and members’ conditions of service. As a result of working in social partnership with the Government, the NASUWT’s long-standing views on pay structure and collegiality and curriculum , and our stance on violent and disruptive pupils, including low-level disruption and verbal abuse, excessive workload and bureaucracy are now being adopted by the Westminster and developing governments.

Building strong campaigns in the workplace around these issues and offering members real practical advice and guidance, which is sent directly to members’ homes, into workplaces and is available via our website, has been the basis of he NASUWT’s organising and recruitment strategy.

NUT

The National Union of Teachers is the largest teachers’ organisation in Europe

The NUT recruits only qualified teachers, or those who are on courses or in posts that will lead to teacher qualification.

The Union organises teachers across England and Wales, and as an independent organisation, not affiliated to any political party, influences debate through its liaison with parliamentarians across all parties.

The NUT’s contribution to the advancement of education is consistent, persistent and successful. The Union is proud to be at the forefront of campaigning against the privatisation of the education service.

Please visit the NUT’s website www.teachers.org.uk for further information about the Union’s current campaigns, full details of our policies and the benefits of joining the largest and most effective teachers’ organisation.

PCS

“The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) is the fifth largest trade union in the UK, with over 300,000 members.

We are organised throughout the civil service and government agencies, making us the UK’s largest civil service trade union.

We also organise widely in the private sector, usually in areas that have been privatised.

We are a democratic organisation, run by our members, for our members. We campaign for fair pay and conditions, decent pensions for all and equality in the workplace and beyond.”
