‘Proud to serve the public’ is a North West TUC campaign to protect and promote public services in our Region.
We believe public services are a vital part of the North West economy. They create jobs, stimulate growth and investment, protect the most vulnerable and are valued by millions of hard-working people in the North West.
Public services did not cause the recession. So why should public servants – and the public they are proud to serve – now pay the price for the recklessness and greed of the financiers and bankers?
The threatened cuts in public spending will cause higher unemployment and increase the amount we spend on paying-out benefits. Cuts will worsen services, stifle recovery and affect the lives of millions of people in our Region.
